New Zealand's Next Top Model, Episode 5 - Keporah says...

Gorgeous and connected Keporah Ashby on the latest episode of New Zealand’s Next Top Model...

This week on NZNTM, Sara Tetro made an unexpected visit to the House which caused a few satisfying dramas and made great TV.

Sara came in and questioned all the girls on who they thought were going to win and who was going home this week.

Unsurprisingly most of the girls saw Christobelle as competition and they thought Teryl Leigh was going home (due to her being in the bottom two) which caused Teryl Leigh to quickly defend herself, letting the girls know that she won the first two challenges and wasn’t going anywhere. It also made Teryl Leigh sulk yet again (and complain about this for the rest of the show.)

I loved it when there I was thinking Sara was going to give the girls some encouragement, when she hit them with the “none of you are safe.”

Teryl Leigh’s mood just got worse by the time they had dinner letting the girls know exactly how she felt about this situation.
She complained that she thought that they were all friends and felt like (quote) “they are all being stupid and foolish for thinking that she was leaving,” which then led to Ruby trying to explain to her that they were only saying that because she was in the bottom two last week.

hosanna-coutureI loved it when Hosanna tried to speak and Teryl Leigh hit her with the “excuse me I’d rather talk to Ruby then you” – brilliant! Teryl leigh is so catty and depressing yet I love to watch and wait in anticipation for what is going to come out of her mouth.

“I have great bone structure and height, they can’t grow taller.” The claws were certainly out that night.

This week the girls had a make up challenge where they had five minutes to apply evening makeup with limited mirrors and limited makeup.

The judges were Colin, Chris, Kennedy Grant from Covergirl and Makeup Artist Stefan Knight. Lucy had a good strategy and the potential to win.

She did her eyes first while the others crammed around the foundation table and Lucy did a good job but she didn’t listen on how to apply her lips which left them looking like a “cracked desert” –(quote from Stefan Knight).

Christobelle was hilarious! She splattered her foundation on then, realising that she had the wrong tone, tried to put on another foundation which was also wrong. She may have looked tragic but she gave me a good laugh!

Hosanna looked like she had come from the ‘80s with her dark brown/ purple lipstick and her blusher going all up her face. Colin said it perfectly when he asked her if she was doing her makeup for the circus…. (I could not stop laughing when he said that…I so love Colin, he always says exactly what you are thinking).

But don’t worry, Hosanna has assured us that she is going home to “practice”

The winner of the challenge was Ruby which to me was quite surprising; she had no eye makeup, bright red lips and was it me or did her makeup look orange?

The girls had there first Couture shoot which was set out at Bethells beach and shot by Karen Inderbitzen Waller, a New Zealand photographer and stylist (she is also one of my favourite photographers).

You know it’s not easy to pull off couture and a lot of models don’t get to do couture but Hosanna, Ajoh and Christobelle to me were absolutely amazing.

Ajoh’s shot was just breathtaking and by far my favourite out of the bunch.

As I said Couture is hard to pull off and it showed for Ruby, Rhiannon, Laura and Lucy. Lucy telling the judge that she couldn’t do things on the spot, when asked to show emotion through the eyes on the spot, probably wasn’t the best thing to say.

rihannonI didn’t see any emotion and Lucy only gave one look which was something that may have been anger. And is it just me or is anyone else starting to get agitated with Laura? She keeps letting the outfit dictate her shoot and it really isn’t her job as a model to like the clothes. As a model you wear what you are told to wear and you make that work.

Rhiannon and Victoria were not taking direction well, if any thing they were getting worse with Rhiannon making her eyes look hooded and evil/ elf like and Victoria just trying to hard.

At elimination Christobelle yet again impressed the judges, Rebecca Rose was a let-down for me and the judges – her photo looked like a “starved anaconda” –(Colin). Sara loved Ajoh’s photo, Laura was also told by Chris and Karen not to let clothes dictate her photo shoots. The judges were not impressed with Rhiannon’s photo nor Lucy’s nor Victoria’s.

Sweet small town girl Rhiannon was eliminated from the competition which I actually hadn’t predicted but judging from her photo it was time for her to go.

My top four would have to be Ajoh, Christobelle, Hosanna and - even though she was in the bottom two - Victoria.

Prediction for next week: I think that it might be Lucy’s turn to go.
