A road trip to Donald Judd's Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas, inspired Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez. That and making paper airplanes en route in the car. The folds were translated into the Fall show's opening series of dresses, luscious jewel-tone shifts in silk twill that doubled and redoubled back on themselves like so many enormous ruffles. Jackets, too, were given the accordion treatment and, like the dresses, worn with contrast-color stockings and brightly hued suede pumps, or super-slouchy trousers.Construction and the inner workings of a garment became the designers' fascination. A charcoal double-faced wool melton coat looked as if it had been put on inside out. From there they went to extremes, cutting away the back of a silk tweed jacket to expose the lining and all the seams, and piecing together a shearling as if it were a puzzle, so the shag was seen in parts—the arms, for instance—while elsewhere the wool was spliced to reveal the shiny interfacing.This collection had gorgeous colors and enough sequined cocktail dresses for all of the duo's socialite pals, but it was by no means their easiest to grasp, and it may turn off some of their less conceptually minded customers. That's of little consequence to McCollough and Hernandez. After all the kisses and congratulations backstage, they said the best thing about having new(-ish) backers is that it allows them to make two collections: one that's commercial (for that, visit the showroom) and one that's editorial. It's not tough to guess which they prefer.

With the remaining four contestants vying to compete in next week’s grand finale, the Max Challenge was nothing short of insanity. This week’s Max Challenge tested both the makeup artists’ ability to communicate and, of course, their makeup skills.
Working in pairs, each makeup artist was required to accurately recreate an avant garde makeup look based on photos that were chosen for them. The twist? They weren’t allowed to look at the picture.

Instead, they were to rely purely on the description and directions given by their partner.
Unsurprisingly, drama ensued as Todd and Maxi struggled to work together. Farah and Nolan, however, made an efficient pair (even despite the distraction of Maxi screaming to Todd with words of crazed encouragement like, “Oh my God, you’re such a good listener, bitch!”).
Thanks to Farah’s excellent directions and his ability to execute elaborate makeup looks under pressure, Nolan took the Max Challenge and won the advantage of determining the order in which the makeup artists would choose their models in the elimination challenge.Nolan’s winning makeup look (left) was remarkably accurate copy of the makeup in the original photo (right). I had the opportunity to test out Suki’s Tinted Active Moisturizer, which is basically a liquid mineral foundation that provides light hydration.
This tinted mineral moisturizer comes in two shades: “Natural”, for fair to medium complexions, and “Bronze” (which is the one I tried) for medium to darker complexions.
So how well did this tinted mineral foundation work?When I first applied this bronzey, tinted moisturizer, I was a little concerned that it might be too dark for my non-fake-baked, medium-olive skin color. After blending the product onto my face, however, I was very pleased with the way it gave me a warm, very natural boost of color while evening out my skin tone and minimizing minor imperfections.
Since this mineral-pigmented moisturizer is so sheer, it should work on a wide variety of skin tones…just keep that concealer handy if you need to cover up bigger blemishes or dark undereye circles.
A Minor Drawback?One thing that concerns me a little about this moisturizer is that it’s scented with essential oils that could potentially irritate the skin. Personally, I enjoy the Aveda-like fragrance of this product and my (mostly) non-sensitive skin hasn’t experienced any problems since I’ve been using this tinted moisturizer.
Nevertheless, I’d love to see this product come in a fragrance-free version for those who either have very sensitive skin or for those who don’t enjoy the scent of the product.
The Bottomline on Suki Tinted Moisturizer: This is a very nice, cream-based, mineral foundation that left my skin looking glowy and lush. I definitely recommend it.
